Building Team Blog

Update 8/1/21

8/4/2021

This week was a busy one working at the Annex.  We ordered a dumpster and loaded it to the brim with all of the stone, concrete and block from all of the demo.  Many of the pieces were so heavy we needed four guys to carry them into the dumpster.   We painstakingly salvaged lots of stone that can be used later to patch the existing stone on the building. RIP to one demolition hammer chisel!

We then loaded the classroom block wall debris followed by the future bathroom floor debris.  Cut up the crazy heavy metal/cement door frames we tore out.   Took one load of metal to the recycler and were paid $29.

Next we attacked the removal of the 2 layers of drywall and plaster coating on the narthex vaulted ceiling.  The debris is heavy and it creates such a mess.  Debris was loaded into bags and will be taken to the landfill this week.

We lost one extension ladder last week that got crushed from falling debris from the roof and one step ladder that simply collapsed!

And our sanitation engineer continues to remove the trash and recycle from the site several times a week.  Renting a 2 yard trash dumpster and a 2 yard recycle dumpster would cost $280 a month.   So this is a great savings for the church.

Thanks for all of your hard work and continued support on this project.

Thanks
Steve
