Our Pastor

Pastor Maddie Tallman, pastor developer

Pastor Maddie Tallman was called to Rejoice Fellowship in July, 2020. Pastor Maddie grew up in Frederick, Md. and is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park and proud campus ministry alum. She studied print and online journalism, developing a passion for writing and communication. It was in college though that she realized that maybe God was calling her to a communicate a specific message—the radical liberation of God that extends far beyond the limits that humans impose. 

Pastor Maddie is blessed to have learned alongside communities from Buenos Aires to Washington, DC to Chicago to Baltimore. 

Before finishing seminary at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago and after spending a year with El Arca Argentina, she worked with the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, learning some of the ins and outs of the church on the synodical level. 

In seminary, Pastor Maddie learned just how much ministry and community organizing go hand in hand. Along with her masters of divinity, she completed an emphasis in Latinx Ministry and graduated in 2020. 

While starting at her first call during a global pandemic was not ideal, the community so far has embraced Pastor Maddie, and the potentials for ministry continue to grow. God has been and will always be good. You can reach Pastor Maddie at 443-692-7313 or mtallman@rejoiceelca.org.

J.T. joined the Rejoice Fellowship staff in April 2021 while they finished their Master's degree in Mathematics at the University of Maryland, College Park. Like Pastor Maddie, they are an alum of The Humble Walk, the Lutheran campus ministry at UMD.
