2nd Sunday after Pentecost

Pastor Amanda's sermon from this past Sunday uses the story of Matthew's calling and a “Mean Girls” analogy to emphasize that Jesus welcomes all people, especially those seen as outsiders, and calls us to extend that same open, grace-filled invitation to others.

Reflection Questions:

1. Who are the “outsiders” or people on the margins in your life, and how might you intentionally welcome them as Jesus does?
2. In what ways do you consciously or unconsciously set “rules” about who belongs or doesn’t belong?
3. How does the image of an open table challenge your understanding of grace and inclusion?
4. Who is someone you can personally invite into church, conversation, or community just as Matthew invited others?
5. How does recognizing yourself as both sinner and recipient of grace shape how you treat others?
6. What is one concrete step you can take this week to create a more open and welcoming “table” in your daily life?

Prayer:
Gracious and merciful God, you welcome all to your table through your boundless grace, not because of who we are but because of your love. Forgive us when we draw lines where you have torn them down, and open our hearts to invite others as you have invited us. Make us faithful witnesses of your mercy, that we may share your healing, your welcome, and your joy with all people; through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
