This Sunday, Pastor Amanda reflected on Jonah and the laborers in the vineyard parable to challenge us to rejoice that God’s mercy is a gift freely given to all people, even those we might think least deserve it.

1. What similarities do you see between Jonah's reaction and the workers' complaints in Jesus' parable of the vineyard workers?

2. Who are the "Ninevites" in your life, the people or groups you find difficult to love or forgive?

3. Do you tend to think of God's grace as a gift or as something that must be earned? Why?

4. How does the idea that God's love extends equally to all people challenge your own sense of fairness?

5. How can we cultivate greater empathy for people we disagree with, fear, or dislike?

6. In what ways might God be inviting you to extend mercy to others this week?

Prayer:

Gracious God, thank you for loving us not because we have earned your mercy, but because your love is greater than our sin; help us to rejoice in that same grace when it is extended to others. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, who welcomes saints and sinners alike into your kingdom, Amen.
